Old cemeteries are intruiging places to
photograph.
I hit he perfect light on an old cemetery in
Oxford, UK. Famous people surounded me - and the X
marked the spot.
I got this photograph, when I was strolling around
the city and making my way down from the North
towards downtown Oxford.
The Light on this mid afternoon was changing between
being utterly flat and simply amazing. Just when I
reached the X, the sun broke through the clouds which
gave me a window of about five minutes to get the
shot.

Rust to dust - Urban Exploration photography
Urban Exploration or UrbEx, how it is called by
"insiders" is all about finding old, abandoned
buildings and locations and photographing them. But
it is all about the ruins of modern civilization. Old
hospitals and Asylums are a preferred location, even
better than old manufacturing sites or bunkers. The
spookier the story behind the subject, the better.

A photograph of a unique and artfully painted
abstract protrait.
It happened to be in London, on a sunny
Saturday afternoon: We were picked up by a friend at
the Brixton Underground Station - with her car. Yes,
those suburban Londonians (or, Londoners) own and
drive their cars. Much to my surprise though, but
then again: someone has to drive all those cars
around creating the constant traffic in London.
We were on our way to a Trini (West-Indian) takeaway
place - and my mind was already heavily involved with
my Curry-Goat Roti to be. Did you ever have one of
those? If not, you really (I mean REALLY) should try
one…. But, back to the story.

How the texture of materials impacts a
photograph.
Over the last few months I payed more attention
on how to emphasise the texture of an object that I
photograph and how the texture of such objects can
impacts a photograph. Actually, I was looking for
images whose main compositional element is the
texture itself.
Texture relates us to the feeling of a surface.
Usually we explore a texture by vision and by touch.
However, in a photograph, we don't have the luxury of
experiencing the texture by touching it. The viewer
of a photograph needs to be convinced by vision on
how that photographed surface actually feels like.

With the
thanksgiving turkey flavor still in my mouth, I was
all energized to face the elements on this cold and
beautiful November morning. For a long time I had in
mind to shoot this old factory building in
Saxonville, Framingham, Massachusetts. I drive by
there on a fairly regular basis. And although there
is nothing really special about this building, for
some reason it always showed a certain beauty sitting
next to the lake. Read

The perfect Fall
weekend. The foliage not being at its peak, but warm
enough to to have a fall BBQ: Lamb wrapped in steak,
grilled to perfection. Came with a delicious,
significant amount of red wine. Well, later that
night, the phone rang and I agreed to a photo shoot
with Ian the next morning. Shortly after the alarm
clock went off and, after meeting at the Mall, we
were to off lovely Fitchburg, Massachusetts. We drove
around the downtown area until we found something
that caught our interest. Read
