Nature & Landscape Photos

A selection of Nature and Countryside Photographs.

It has been a while since I worked my way through the countless photographs of my Nature & Countryside section. That is anyways how I decided to call them - for now.
The photographs are a mix of impressions from the American East Coast and the southern British countryside.
Organising these photos has been on my radar screen for ages. But as a photographer with photography not being the bread & butter business it is hard to keep up with the task of taking photographs and sorting/editing them.
These photos will now go through a second round of personal evaluation and test printing before a few selected ones will make make their way to the appropriate section in the gallery where they will be ready for purchase. Enjoy the album! Read More...

New Photo Album from Boston

Just edited some one year old photos.

john hancock building Boston
Shortly after moving to the UK I had to go back to good ol' Boston in January 2010. During this one week trip I had a few opportunities to walk around the streets that I so missed (and still do, actually). One Sunday morning Ian came into town all the way from Westborough. We had a jolly good time roaming around the streets of Boston and finding quite some interesting spots. Sadly this happened to be the last official photo shoot together for a long time to come. Most of the photos from back then have been sitting idle on my hard drive, until this past March. And then I got pleasantly surprised…. Sometimes photos need to rest before being touched, I think. The discovered work of Vivian Maier

Nothing lasts forever - it is all like a wheel...

Policemen in Chicago, Street Photography 1950 In mid 2007 a real estate agent, John Maloof, won a box of older negatives at an auction house in Chicaco. He was on search for a book he was about to write about his neighbourhood in Chicago. What he found however did not really help him with his book about Chicagos NW Side, but was nevertheless quite amazing.... Read More...

Oh so British

A shop window in the old coach town Stony Stratford.

roadside photography: a typical british shop windowI spotted this oh so cute, oh so British shop window coming back from "the park" - the Ouse Valley park where I tend to go for short walks.... I walked by this shop many times before but just never bothered to photograph it. Anyhow, here it is, in it's whole playfulness.... Read More...

The real drive thru

The British answer to coffee & breakfast chains.

roadside photography: a saussage van on a highway/motorwayIn an alomost complete lack of proper breakfast chains the British came up with their own version of the coffee on the go approach - the snack shack. The breakfast sandwiches are a significantly better than the ones from the well known American or international chains. However, you are being served instant coffee, and it is lousy cold and wet while having breakfast. At least in January that is. In the summer it's not that cold. But wet. Just kidding. Not. X marks always the spot

Old cemeteries are intruiging places to photograph.

Urban decay: black and white of a cross on a cemetery
I hit he perfect light on an old cemetery in Oxford, UK. Famous people surounded me - and the X marked the spot.

I got this photograph, when I was strolling around the city and making my way down from the North towards downtown Oxford.

The Light on this mid afternoon was changing between being utterly flat and simply amazing. Just when I reached the X, the sun broke through the clouds which gave me a window of about five minutes to get the shot. Read More...

Urban Exploration

Rust to dust - Urban Exploration photography

UrbEx Photography
Urban Exploration or UrbEx, how it is called by "insiders" is all about finding old, abandoned buildings and locations and photographing them. But it is all about the ruins of modern civilization. Old hospitals and Asylums are a preferred location, even better than old manufacturing sites or bunkers. The spookier the story behind the subject, the better. Read More...
